102.2 - Centers and the Etheric Body

The seven major centers in the Etheric body and their corresponding glands

The 7 chakras in the etheric body have their physical manifestations as glands.

1. The head chakra is related to the pineal gland, which governs intuition, awareness, and clarity of thoughts. Esoterically, the head center is related to the will and higher consciousness. In an advanced man, the head center becomes the point of contact for the spiritual will, Atma.

2. The ajna chakra is related to the pituitary body, which affects growth, reproduction, metabolism, and response to stress… Esoterically, the ajna center is the directing agent of either personality or soul, depending on the person's point of evolution - how soul-infused he/she is. In an advanced man, the ajna center becomes the directing agent or the distributor of the blended energies of the soul. In reality, the ajna center is inactive in ordinary people and only active until the 3rd initiation. Then, it radiates pure, selfless, universal and inclusive thoughtform, which are used for serving hierarchical purposes.

3. The throat chakra is related to the thyroid gland, which also regulates metabolism, heart rate, and body temperature. Esoterically, the throat center is man's higher creative agent.  In an advanced man, the throat center becomes the expression of the universal mind, Manas.

4. The heart chakra is related to the thymus gland, which is responsible for producing immune cells. The life principle is seated in the heart. Esoterically, the heart center is related to unconditional, divine love, universal compassion, and inclusiveness. In an advanced man, the heart center becomes the agent for spiritual love, Buddhi.

5. The solar plexus chakra is related to the pancreas, which produces enzymes for digesting food, particularly protein, and the hormone insulin for controlling blood sugar levels. Esoterically, the solar plexus center is related to emotions and considered the great clearing house. It operates as a storehouse and a processor of all energy located below the diaphragm, emanating from the three major chakras (sacral center, spleen chakra, root chakra, and other minor chakras). All the energy is concentrated in the solar plexus chakra before being transferred to the higher chakras.

6. The sacral chakra is related to the gonads, which affect reproduction and other body functions. It also relates to sex as the urge to blend or the instinct towards unity.

7. The root/base chakra is related to adrenal glands, which regulate several functions such as metabolism, blood pressure, and response to stress. It is responsive only to the will aspect. The will-to-be in incarnation is seated in the base chakra. It is also the resting place of the serpent - Kundalini fire.

The lower chakras below the diaphragm also have their corresponding higher chakras above the diaphragm. When a person progresses on the Path, energy from the lower chakras will be transmuted and transferred into their corresponding higher chakras.

  • The energy of the sacral center will move to the throat chakra. Reproductive energy is transmuted into creative expressive energy through arts, communication, writing, speech…
  • The energy of the base chakra will move to the crown chakra. Personality will is transformed into Divine Will.
  • The energy of the solar plexus chakra will move to the heart chakra. Desire is transmuted into Aspiration.

The relationship of the spleen center and the ajna center

The spleen chakra plays a vital role as an assimilator, absorbing prana into the body. Depending on the health of the spleen and its corresponding chakra, the vital force of prana will be enhanced or reduced. The spleen chakra operates like a switchboard for controlling the flow of prana.

The spleen chakra and the ajna chakra are connected. When we receive the 3rd initiation with total purity, harmlessness, and universal love, then the ajna center takes over the spleen center and starts radiating. That means when we achieve purity of physical body, of emotions, of thoughts through the work of the spleen center, then now we can radiate out in purity.

Five conditions of the centers

1. Closed, still and shut, and yet with signs of life, silent and full of deep inertia. The symbol of this stage is a circle. At this stage, the chakra looks like a disc-shaped valley, radiating a dull, lifeless light. It rotates very slowly, almost with no movement. This stage corresponds to the least evolved period of humans, with the first sub-races of the Third Root Race (Lemurians).

2. Opening, unsealed, and faintly tinged with colour, life pulsates. The symbol of this stage is a circle with a point in the center. The chakra moves faster than before, and in the center of the chakra, a glimmering point of fire emerges. This stage corresponds to the later Lemurian race, when the mind began to develop slightly.

3. Quickened, alive, and alert in two directions; the two small doors are open wide. The symbol of this stage is a split circle. During this stage, the bright spot in the center of the chakra becomes more active. The spinning motion made it shine brighter than before, projecting sparks in two different directions, making the chakra appear to be divided in two. The movement of the chakra was much faster than before, and the fire bisecting the circle moved back and forth, stimulating the light of the center of the chakra to become brighter and brighter. This stage corresponds to the period of the Atlanteans.

4. Radiant and reaching forth with the vibrant note to all related centers. The symbol of this stage is a circle divided into four. The chakra becomes very much active, and the cross inside the chakra rotates with the chakra, creating a brilliant beauty. This stage corresponds to a very high stage of mental development, associating with the 5th Root Race. The cross inside the chakra rotates together. The person is conscious of spiritual value, although he/she is still active in the life of the personality, and he/she is approaching the Probational Path.

5. Blended they are and each with each works rhythmically. The vital force flows through from all the planes. The world stands open wide. The symbol of this stage is the Swastika. At this stage the chakra becomes four-dimensional (4D). The cross within the chakra rotates on its axis, and sends out sparks in all directions. The chakra looks like a ball of fire instead of a wheel of fire. It marks the Path of Discipleship and the Path of Initiation. At the end of this stage, the chakras look like glowing balls of fire, with the spokes of the chakras merging together into a "whole burning fire".
