GQ1: 3. Aries Meditation and Study Report

GQ1-3: INTRODUCTION TO THE MINOR RAYS

Study: In this second month you will study the four minor rays of “Attribute” - Rays 4, 5, 6, 7. For one week per ray, please read the information, do the ray meditations, watch the videos, observe life - then write what you have seen and learnt in your report.

Raja Yoga Meditation: this month focus turns to “The OBSTACLES to Union”. These are a list of all the obstacles which slow down our spiritual development because of the deficiencies - or undeveloped states, found in the physical, emotional and mental bodies. The student should identify the obstacles which are slowing down his or her progress and endeavour to do something about them.

STUDY

Q1. Ray 4
Name one world figure living today who you think is a good example of this ray.

    Yanni

     b. Do you think this person is working at the personality level, and is therefore using this ray energy selfishly; or do you think the person is soul conscious because the ray energy is being used altruistically and inclusively? Why or why not?

I think Yanni is soul conscious as the ray energy is being used altruistically and inclusively. His music brings us the sense of peace and harmony.

Q2. Ray 5
    James Watson
I think James Watson is soul conscious. Together with Francis Crick, he discovered the structure of DNA. “This has revolutionized all of biology and is a landmark of the 20th century.”

Q3. Ray 6

    Pope Francis
I think Pope Francis is soul conscious as the ray energy is being used altruistically and inclusively. He has devoted his life to his faith and religion.

Q4. Ray 7

    Angelina Jolie
I think Angelina Jolie is soul conscious as the ray energy is being used altruistically and inclusively. She supports various causes, including conservation, education, children, women’s rights and human rights. Daisy, supporting various causes could easily fall into the category of ray 6. Ray 6 are activists and have high ideals. Ray 7 is more about management, organization, structure and ecology – saving the planet much like Al Gore or Leonardo de Caprio.

Yes, Daisy, you have chosen good representatives of the rays. I would have liked more details as to how they display that particular ray.

Q5. You have identified 7 different personality ray types to work with during the previous weeks. Choose one of those seven. Working with your current understanding of the rays, and based on what you see in that person, try to allocate rays for that person in the following levels: Soul - Personality - Mind - Emotional - Physical - Etheric.
Master Thich Nhat Hanh
Soul Ray: 2
Personality Ray: 2
Mind Ray: 4
Emotional Ray: 2
Physical-etheric Ray: 7

I think Master Thich Nhat Hanh has mostly ray 2 (his soul, personality and emotional rays) as we can feel the Love and learn the Wisdom through his teachings. His mind ray is 4 because Thay is also a great artist. His physical-etheric ray is 7 because of his gracefulness.

He may have ray 2 on three vehicles but it is highly unlikely. I have only seen the same ray represented twice not three times. His soul ray may be so infused into the personality that that is what he exudes and hence it is easy to see ray two all over, both soul and personality.

MEDITATION

1.      What was the Raja Yoga meditation theme this month?
The Raja Yoga meditation theme of this month is “The Obstacles to Union”.

2.      What insights did you gain in your Raja Yoga meditations this month?
There can be obstacles to our soul cognition, and most of them come from the weaknesses of our lower bodies, physically, mentally and emotionally. There are also methods for us to overcome these obstacles, including purifying our lower nature, regulation of the life breath, practicing of sympathy, tenderness, firmness and detachment, meditation upon Light and Radiance, using visualization to create a world we want with all Beauty, Goodness and Truth that are dearest to our hearts.

3.      What obstacle did you discover was strong in you, as a result of your study and meditation work? Do you know how to overcome it?
My obstacle sometimes is pain on the neck and shoulders. To overcome it, I need to do exercise and “practise of sympathy, tenderness, steadiness of purpose, and dispassion” toward the pain.

Your obstacle is physical pain. We all at some point need to deal with physical body and learn to manage it. What this question really wants you to do is look within and find what obstacles that may be standing in the way of greater soul infusion. What aspects, characteristics within you need adjustment or transformation? Could it be within the personality, within the mind or the emotional body? These are the vehicles that are hardest to purify and bring under control.

Thank you Daisy for your report.
With love and light,
Eva
