GQ1: 4. Taurus Meditation and Study Report

GQ1-4 FORMULATE YOUR RAY CHART

Study: This month, you will attempt to formulate your own Ray Chart, and the guide book “Formulate Your Ray Chart’ will help you. There are two recommendations which should help you in this task. Firstly, try to identify the outermost and densest ray first - the Physical-Etheric Ray. It should be the easiest to identify. Then when you have achieved this, focus on the Astral Ray, then work your way inwards to the Mental, Personality and Soul Rays in that order. The second point is to note that the three lowest bodies are ruled by only two or three rays (according to the Master DK), and to keep your analysis on these few rays when doing each of these bodies. There are exceptions - disciples can have vehicles on any rays, but they will also have developed the discernment necessary to spot the anomaly. Finally, realise that it may take months or years of “proving” to yourself that you have the right ray combination. This is achieved by observing your reactions and impulses and comparing what you see to your chart.

Raja Yoga Meditation: this month our attention turns to the “HINDRANCES TO UNION”. These are the psychological-emotional attitudes and states, which hinder our union with Spirit. The four hindrances we deal with are Ignorance, Hatred or Anger, Attachment, and Sense of Personality or ‘I-ness’. The Buddhist equivalents to the hindrances are the three poisons of Ignorance, Anger, and Attachment. Patanjali gives a fifth hindrance - “clinging to life". This is a condition present in all who are in incarnation from the lowest to highest. The first hindrance we focus upon is the bete-noir of them all - IGNORANCE, the seed-bed from which all the other hindrances arise.

STUDY
Q1. Can you study yourself impersonally, and distinguish between the various ray forces as they play through and upon you, impulsing you into action?
I am hypothesising a Ray 7 physical vehicle because I see the following characteristics in that aspect of my nature:
  • Happier with quietness and stillness
  • Sensitive to pain or thought of pain
  • Dislike clutter and mess
  • Body is easily trained, and more obedient
  • The body operates better with order
OK. You covered good basic characteristics that cover the physical body. I am a stickler on making sure that early on, students realize that the purpose of these questions is to be able to separate our bodies and see them distinctly differently.
The physical body, is what we observe IT needs in order to function well. So almost everything you have enumerated can apply to the physical body with the exception of the “thought of pain”. That is more a mental process. Sometimes if we have, let’s say, ray 7 on the personality vehicle, it being a higher vehicle in terms of vibration it can influence the lower vehicles. So a 7th ray personality would still like order, lack of mess and imposes its energy upon a physical form.
I am hypothesising a Ray 2 astral vehicle ray because I see the following characteristics in that aspect of my nature:
  • Emotionally calm, [very affectionate and compassionate, serene and patient
  • Very sensitive
  • Wanting to include everyone, not wanting to hurt anyone
  • Able to view rejection impersonally] These characterisics are more of a personality or soul vs. an emotional vehicle. The emotional body is only about how we feel, how we react in an emotional way; do we get upset easily, do our buttons get pushed, are we slow to respond, are we more neutral???
  • If being disappointed and deeply hurt, quietly non-reactive; when challenged emotionally, having tendency to stay open These do apply to emotional vehicle.
  • Kind and forgiving – this is more of a soul quality. Anybody that is somewhat evolved can be kind and forgiving.
  • Suffers is rejected, but in an accepting and gentle way the fact that you do no RE-ACT is the key. A 2nd ray emotional body tends to respond, not react immediately, sometimes slow to respond, gets hurt easily, tends to cry and be sensitivite vs. angry.
I am hypothesising a Ray 4 mental vehicle ray because I see the following characteristics in that aspect of my nature:
  • Method used to solve problems, processing data and delivering words is of right-brain, entertaining, colourful, dramatic, intuitive, poetic, humorous, short on explicit details
  • “Feeling” mind, intuitive, aesthetic
  • Unifying, reconciling, resolving, harmonizing, balancing, peacemaking mind
  • Imagining, expressive mind
These are all characteristics of a 4th ray mind. I know they are listed in the resource material but as you have included them in your description, there must be a resonance with it. Check this out for yourself: do you see both sides of a situation? Are you good with sciences? Do you like story telling? Does the word perspective mean a lot for you?
I am hypothesising a Ray 2 personality because I see the following characteristics in my personality nature:
  • Approach to life (how goals are pursued, dealing with crises, fighting for rights: soft, cooperative or emotional.
  • Tolerant, permissive, inclusive
  • Sensitive
These could all be qualities of the soul. If, you are hypothesizing ray 2 for emotional, personality and soul…that’s far too much ray 2. No one has it on all 3 vehicles. You would be mush, soft, like spaghetti. More than likely you have a 2nd ray soul and are appropriating 2nd ray energy into your personality.
What kind of work do you do? The personality is in our face, it is the one that everyone sees, gets to know, and the one you are identified most with. The job we choose is either the way the mind works or the personality energy. So when you get a chance I’d like to hear more after you have had a chance to consider some of what I am suggesting. Are you a nurse, a teacher, work in a lab, are in commerce, etc. etc.
So you would have a 2nd ray soul or a second ray personality. Then you would need to see what other ray fits in its place.
I am hypothesising a Ray 2 soul because:
  • My goal is to develop a deep intuitive loving-understanding of people so I can help or teach and illuminate others.
  • My most joyous activity is pursuing wisdom and distributing understanding.
  • My greatest sense of the sacred is divine love, infinite inclusiveness and wholeness.
  • My heart’s desire is to achieve divine and complete wisdom and omniscience.
These again are straight out of our resources. I would prefer you telling me your heart’s desire, in your own words. What do you want to do more than anything? If money or other responsibilities were not there, what would you like to do? What would bring you the greatest joy?
Q2. Having spent three months working with the rays – from the point of view of spiritual development what do you think you have personally gained?
What I have gained is the deeper insight on myself and others. This has helped me understand clearer about human nature and why people behave in certain ways. This has encouraged me to improve myself further towards my own better version, while on the other hand, being more tolerant and accepting people more as who they are. These are good conclusions to arrive at. I too find that when people become more aware of rays, they are far more tolerant of others. They realize that an orange, for example, cannot become an apple: an orange can only become better, sweeter and the best that an orange can be. Do you see what I mean?
MEDITATION
1.      What was the Raja Yoga meditation theme this month?
The Raija Yoga meditation theme of this month is “Ignorance - a Hindrance to Union.”
2.      What insights did you gain in your Raja Yoga meditations this month?
When we are aware of our true spiritual nature, we can be liberated from the suffering of life.

3.      What did you learn about IGNORANCE this month, as a result of your study and meditation work? What did you learn about others and the world on this theme?
Ignorance is being trapped in the limited view of life that confuses the true spiritual nature with the impermanent appearance, status and conditions. Identifying one’s soul with its lower bodies (vehicles) and with the thoughts and desires they create, ignorance is the cause of all suffering and other hindrances to union.
Although the awakening wave is spreading, we can see there is a lot of suffering all over the world at the moment because of this limited view.
Daisy, I pulled this out from DK and it is somewhat encouraging, don’t you think? Let’s remember this was written anywhere from 1920 – 1950’s. We, as a humanity, still have a long way to go, but I understand that we are on the verge of the first initiation for humanity en mass.
EXH 80
The evolutionary progress of the human race.
The second thing I would have you all remember is that mankind has marched steadily forward from a state of blind ignorance and unawareness to one of an intelligent preoccupation with life and a growing sense of responsibility. This sense of responsibility, which is awakening in all of you, is—on its present large scale—relatively new and is one of the factors definitely increasing the distress and pain you are all feeling. You ask yourselves, where, as a race, have we failed and what can we do to rectify our mistakes? In spite of everything, however, men have gone from stage to stage of intelligent and spiritual unfoldment and no matter what the outer happenings have been or may be, the race has made real progress. There has been no turning back, and there will be none. Mankind has weathered many storms and survived many difficulties; men have emerged from periods of crisis better and stronger, purified "so as by fire" and definitely nearer the goal.
4.      THE FULL MOON MEDITATION: Please include insights you gained, or any thoughts at all about this meditation experience.
This is the first time I attended the broadcasting meditation service from the school and I enjoyed it very much. Since this full-moon is also the Vesak celebration, I felt the energy is very special and sacred.

5.      Misc: How was the general quality of your meditation this month? Have you managed to establish a regular pattern of meditation? Are you experiencing any difficulties in your meditation work? If so, please explain.
It was good. I have meditated regularly. I’m not experiencing any difficulty.
Thank you Daisy, for your responses to the question and for your thoughts. Please apply some of my suggestions, and I look forward to hearing more on the subject was you observe through different eyes.
With love and light,
Eva
Dear Eva,

Thank you so much for your comments and considerate guidance! I highly appreciate that!

About your questions on my mental ray: Yes, I see both sides of a situation. I'm good in science. I like story telling. And the word 'perspective' means a lot to me.

Contemplating on what you have suggested, I guess that I may have a 2nd ray soul and a 5th ray personality as I'm curious to learn on various aspects of life.

About my heart's desire, I want to ascend, being a better version of me, gaining wisdom and developing all of my mind's potential capabilities. I want to be loved and helpful. I wish to work as a member in the new group of world servers. I want to learn and practice, continuously train and improve myself day by day in order to become a teacher for future eucation on Ageless Wisdom. If money and or other responsibilities were not there, I would like to travel, to experience different cultures and lands and to write book, sharing my thoughts. Being in love, having a soulmate that I can share my life with brings me much joy...

With Love and Light,

Daisy
